Creation of ISIG
In October 1992, higher education in Burkina Faso opened up to the private sector with the Institut Supérieur d'Informatique et de Gestion (ISIG). This institute was the brainchild of a visionary, an electronics engineer, Mr Isidore Gnatan KINI, a former executive with the American firm IBM, who, at a time when there was a great deal of mystery surrounding computing in Burkina Faso, felt the need to work on popularizing the computer in particular and computing in general.

First CAMES diploma
After opening its doors, the ISIG, to give its courses greater credibility, asked public university professors to organize student examinations. Then, to give its diplomas another dimension with a label of international recognition, ISIG was the first private establishment in the area of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES) to submit its diplomas for recognition by CAMES. In 1997, ISIG presented its first diploma, the Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie (DUT), at the 18th CAMES symposium in Lomé, Togo. CAMES then asked ISIG to give its diploma a name and to apply for equivalent recognition as a DUT. The DUT/ISIG was thus named "diplôme d'analyste-programmeur" for computer scientists. For secretaries, it was the DSS "Diplôme supérieur en secrétariat". In Finance Accounting, the DTS "Diplôme de technicien supérieur".
